Sea Turtle Rescue

In May 2010, we started a Sea Turtle Rescue project to help protect breeding sea turtles on the Sembehum-Robertsport coast.

The project rescues and returns captured adult sea turtles to the ocean. Under the close watch of project leaders and campsite staff, and under the direction of advisory marine biologists and fellow African conservationists, we also buy and hatch captured eggs.

Our team leaders work with the local fishermen and "turtle patrols" to encourage awareness of the vital role sea turtles play in the ocean ecosystem.

As we grow, we plan to invite Robertsport visitors to help us release the hatchling turtles and support the project. Check back here and on our RCW blog for more details!
