Since September 2009, the Robertsport community has gathered on the Uptown beach for a monthly beach cleanup, using gloves and rice bags to pick up the sea plastic and marine debris that washes in from the ocean.

Join us under the cotton tree at the Robertsport Community Campsite on the morning of the first Saturday of every month. To date, over 1,000 pounds of trash have been collected!

A special thanks to our partner Nana’s Lodge for helping us dispose of the rubbish.

For the record, collecting trash on the Robertsport beach is just part of a sustainable waste management system for the Robertsport community. Where that waste goes, and whether and how it is reused and recycled, will be the focus of future Robertsport Community Works research, education and projects.
